Job-killing "Cap & Trade" Passes House

The House barely passed the "Cap & Trade" legislation. What will happen if the Senate also passes it? From Heritage Foundation:

• Compared to no cap and trade, real GDP losses increase an additional $2 trillion, from $7.4 trillion under the original draft to $9.6 trillion under the new draft;

• Compared to no cap and trade, average unemployment increases an additional 261,000 jobs, from 844,000 lost jobs under the original draft to 1,105,000 lost jobs under the new draft; and

• Peak-year unemployment losses rise by 500,000 jobs, from 2 million under the original draft to 2.5 million under the new draft.

By 2035 the bill will:

•Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.4 trillion;
•Destroy 1,145,000 jobs on average, with peak years seeing unemployment rise by over 2,479,000 jobs;
•Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation;
•Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 58 percent;
•Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent;
•Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,241; and
•Result in an increase of $28,728 in additional federal debt per person, again after adjusting for inflation

Change we can believe in. -D

If I didn't believe in the absolute sovereignty of God, I'd be steeped in fear at what's happening to our country. Thankfully, I learned to trust Him at a very early age.

I believe you are using scare tactics here. Our economy will actually grow in the fact that reduced fossil fuel use will result in:

1)Fewer wars in which we must fight for natural resources

2)We will have a healthier environment in which to grow food (can we put a value on this?

3)We will have a healthier population and workforce not exposed to as much
pollution.

Are we not supposed to be stewards of our God given resources? The current way in which we consume energy is not God's way.

Very few major wars are actually fought over resources (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, War on Terror, to name a few). They are fought because there is alawys evil in the world, and always will be.

Destroying our quality of life will poorly impact our health. Giving more control to government of our lives, including our healthcare, will also poorly impact our health.

Controlling C02, which isn't a pollutant, doesn't improve our health.

Not being able to afford good food, because of government-induced price increases, to feed our families will impact our health.

We can't be good stewards if we're all poor and living in huts and caves.

I personally don't agree with cap & trade because it will increase the cost of gasoline.
