Friends, Family, Climate Change Advocates and Skeptics:

A major new report on the impacts of climate change in the U.S. will be released from the White House today. This report was prepared under two presidential administrations (Bush/Obama). Release will be accompanied by a Press Conference (1:30 ET today).

This report is notable for several reasons:

1. It is a product of the U.S. Global Change Research Program. The GCRP is the umbrella program that oversees and synthesizes climate change research by all U.S. federal agencies, including EPA, Dept. of Energy, Dept of Interior, NASA, NOAA, USDA, National Science Foundation, etc.

Many of you have asked for my recommendation of the most authoritative, respected, and current source of information about climate change. This would now be it. (I participated in a pre-release "webinar" last week.)

2. It is written in language understandable to the nonscientist.

3. It breaks out impacts by regions throughout the U.S.

4. It is up-to-date.

By this afternoon, the full report, graphics, illustrations, etc. can be found at:
http://www.globalchange.gov/usimpacts

UPDATE: Counterpoints here.

UPDATE: The argument over whether climate change is a real problem is largely settled in Washington. What to do about climate change? That debate is at a boil.

No. We do not really know what Josephus was thinking; we do know that he has by omission obscured the references to two prominent individuals: one of whom he has identified as the HP and the other he has identified as “a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man.” Jesus son of Sie was appointed HP during a period of time when there was expectation that in the future an ideal faithful priest will reign. We know nothing about this HP other than the fact that Josephus has obscured the reference to him by omitting mention of his death or replacement.

The omission of the mention of the death or replacement of Jesus son of Sie is strange. Josephus does mention another man named Jesus son Ananias, who stood outside the walls wailing for several years prophesying the destruction of the Temple, He was killed by someone who threw a stone at him during Passover of the tear 70CE. (JW 6.300-309).

Josephus has rewritten the Bible altering the various texts relied upon by the followers of Jesus. The alteration of the covenant of circumcision undermines only the claim of Luke that Jesus is the circumcised messiah out of the house of David. The alteration of the land theology undermines only the covenant-rooted ingathering of the exiles proclaimed by Luke. As noted Josephus has altered texts relating to personalities that only appear in Luke-Acts. The alteration of the story of Lot is truly senseless. Only Luke among the gospel writers mentioned Lot and has Enochic references. Finally Josephus is responding to Luke-Acts because only the Lucan Paul successfully targeted Jews of the Diaspora promoting a covenant-rooted ingathering of exiles.

The rewriting of the passages on Jesus son of Sie and Jesus “a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man” may be part of this pattern.

In the Word

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. - Isaiah 55:12
