This survey is from last summer, but with the new president and Congress talking about blocking oil drilling approved before the election, perhaps we should review:

I've never been on the "drill baby drill" bandwagon, even though as an unemployed geologist, I would benefit from higher drilling activity by the oil and gas industry.

A better perspective, in my mind, is "conserve baby conserve." Using as much petroleum as we can now seems awfully short-sighted.

I'd really like to see more drilling. You're right, it "is" shortsighted. But faster depletion will ensure that focus is placed on other energy formats and possibly changes to post industrial life. A job would be nice as well. My rig was layed over today and the prospect of finding another wellsite seems pretty dismal with $40/barrel oil.

In the Word

The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great-and for destroying those who destroy the earth. Revelation 11:18
